going through my lord of the rings tag looking for anything that could be of use on my new tolkien blog and found this gem:
“The only time I really like Arwen’s inclusion in the trilogy is at the coronation even though that’s not correct chronologically but whatever Jackson just ignore logistics. She and Aragorn kiss and it’s really precious and for a second I love her and then I remember that she stole Glorfindel’s horse, her father’s magic powers, and my chance to live the dream and see the most beautiful elf-lord that I can conceive and I go right back to resenting that bitch.”
also, this rant.
I’m thinking about starting a blog for the specific purpose of writing lengthy text posts concerning LOTR canon, particularly the histories.
Would this be of interest to anyone besides me? Any fellow fans would be welcome to contribute.
snarkytextingandscones asked: I follow you because you post Lord of the Rings. I love how much you adore Glorfindel because I personally have an insanely detailed head canon for Imrahil. Yay for loving characters that the fandom has neglected!

YES. THANK YOU. YES.
It’s so nice that other people have their tin hats on for the under-appreciated characters, especially when canon sort of neglects them and then the fandom just forgets about them.

Annie Lennox singing “Use Well The Days.” This isn’t an “official” LOTR song, as it isn’t on any of the soundtracks, but it very obviously has lyrics from Tolkien’s songs and poems. It’s lovely.
My heart. It is breaking into so many little pieces.

What if my future partner doesn’t like Lord of the Rings?

“Lothíriel,” he said, taking hold of her hands. “You never answered my earlier question. Will you marry me?”
All her doubts had melted away. “Yes.”
He kissed the palm of her hand. “That’s good, for I love you madly.” He kissed her bare arm. “Dementedly.” The hollow of her throat. “Insanely.” Lothíriel had to smile, yet at the same time her heart was beating as fast as a galloping horse and she wondered if he could hear it. His warm breath caressed her face and his lips hovered just above hers. “Desperately,” he whispered hoarsely and claimed them.

justa-littlehealing asked: Okay so I saw you reccomend 'Game of the Gods' and ifahowefreiu I love it :') and 'The Abduction of Éomer, King of Rohan' is honestly the only Eomer/Lothiriel I've been able to read and enjoy so far :$ Have you got any other good reads? I've been through pages and pages and pages of community groups, not to mention sifting through the unfiltered LotRs section itself D: but yeah :$ Just saying 'Hi' .. in a strange way XD
If you liked Games of the Gods, you might enjoy the Changing History series. It’s Boromir/OC and a tad clichéd, but it’s well written, the OFC is pretty badass and likable, and the author’s characterization is spot on.
I really love stories about Boromir and Faramir’s relationship. Some of my favorites are:
The Heirs of the Stewardship series
Eomer/Lothiriel is my canon OTP, but finding good solid fic centered on that ship is challenging. On my to-read list:
Tales From the Fourth Age: The Princess and the King
I would recommend filtering the Lord of the Rings section if you know what you like. For instance, I set the status to ‘complete’ because I hate waiting for fics to be updated, it’s kind of the worst.
Hello!

jesus sam shut up and be helpful for once in your fat life

Without Sam Frodo woulda died before he even got to the Buckle-Fucking-Berry FERRY.
He is an extra-large helping of help, he even carried the pots and pans he cooked Frodo’s shitty forest breakfasts in.
Bitches don’t know shit bout the significance of this stupid fat hobbit and his nasty, nasty lies.

jessela replied to your post: You know you read a lot of Lord of the Rings…
lord of the rings fanfic? what? where? please spread the love!
Here are a few of my favorites:
The Abduction of Éomer, King of Rohan | Éomer/Lothíriel. This fic is so sweet, I almost got diabetes reading it. It’s a good read for an afternoon when you’re feeling really sappy and just want pure unadulterated fluff. It’s also REALLY funny…like, clutching your sides funny at some parts.
Tide of Destiny: Choices | Éomer/Lothíriel. Part one in a series, but can easily be read as a standalone. I didn’t really care for the sequel, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. This fic is LONG, and it’s sort of an emotional investment, but it’s really worth the read.
Misfit in Middle-Earth | I have a little bit of a soft spot for the cheesy girl-falls-into-ME stories. This one is a serious gem - the OC finds herself in Middle Earth and has adventures that don’t include the Fellowship, and it’s really refreshing.
The one thing I generally don’t abide by is Glorfindel/OC fic. (Also, Glorfindel/Elrond. -shudder-) There is one exception, and one only. I love this fic so much. There is a printed copy of it in a Lisa Frank binder under my bed at home. I would print the chapters out as they were released and then my best friend in high school and I used to read it together on the school bus and talk about it in hushed tones. This fic means so much to me. It’s cheesy and silly and very much the work of a myspace-generation teenager. This fic was to me what Cassandra Clare was to the HP fandom.
(lol does anyone remember Cassandra Clare ugh 90s fandom let me hold you)
Without further ado, I give you my undisputed favorite fic of all time…
The Games of the Gods | Yes, it is a girl-falls-into-ME story. Yes, it contains that classic ‘I’m so random I grew up in the 90s and had xanga I can has internets’ humor and is really cheesy and sort of side-eye worthy at times…but it’s AMAZING, guys. I would say that approximately 60% of my Glorfindel headcanon was derived from this masterpiece.
GO. ENJOY.
